Well this has been a goal and a desire of the women's ministry team for a long time. But as a whole we were a little uncertain of how to get it started; we weren't sure if anyone would read it, who would write and moderate the content, or even what sort of content would or should be included. But after much research and a board member who turned out to be an avid blog reader and was interested in the whole blog culture we find ourselves in it seemed the time had finally come to launch.
As part of our mission to provide opportunities for women, as individuals and in groups, to grow in the knowledge of Christ and be strengthened as members of His body our goal for this blog is not simply to inform the ladies of Union church of events coming up on the church calendar but also to share a part of our hearts and lives with you, and you with us. We desire to create an online community in which women not just at Union Church, but in all of Guatemala and even some regular visitors from out of the country, could connect and continue to grow. An online space where we can read each other's stories and reflections and realize we're more similar than maybe we initially thought. We also want to share our tips and recipes, and any other anecdotes we've discovered while doing life in Guatemala (for example, check in our archives Cathy Baldizon's tips for getting an appointment at the U.S. Embassy).
So thank you to our new subscribers, we hope you enjoy following along with our weekly posts. And if you stumbled upon this blog now for the first time but would like to receive weekly reminder emails to see what's new that week simply fill out the quick subscription form on the right and you'll be automatically added to our subscription list. And if you subscribe today, Friday, September 29, you'll automatically be entered into our raffle to win a Q75 to &Cafe, but today is the LAST DAY to be entered.
