Missions
As a ministry of Union Church of Guatemala, we are committed to supporting the Chongo family
(Sadoc, Vivian, Olivia & Sadoccito), our missionaries who were sent out this past July to follow God’s new calling
in Glasgow, Scotland.
We invite you to continue praying for them as they settle into their new home, begin serving at Harper Church, and adjust
to life in a new country. Read their latest update below to learn more about what God is doing and how you can pray
for them during this important season.

Latest Update
Thankful for Progress and Trusting God for Provision (Aug. 27)
The Chongos thank God that Sadoccito and Olivita began school on Monday. This has been a season of significant adjustment, and they are grateful for the gradual progress the children are making. Please continue to pray for the Chongos during this transition.
Over the past month and a half, they have also realized how important having a car would be for both daily life and ministry in the city. Please join them in praying for this need and trusting God to provide in His perfect timing.
Special Praise from the Chongo Family in Glasgow, Scotland (Aug. 20)
Our Union Church of Guatemala missionaries, the Chongo family, are praising God that their children have finally received places at a school! They completed all the enrollment paperwork today and expect to receive a call tomorrow confirming when the children can begin. Please join us in thanking God for this answered prayer. Let us also pray for a smooth beginning, that the children will adapt well to their new school, feel welcomed, and build meaningful friendships.
At the same time, please continue praying for the Chongo family as they settle into their new life and ministry in Glasgow. They are deeply grateful for God’s grace and faithful care throughout their first month away from Guatemala.
From Guatemala to Glasgow: One Month of God’s Faithfulness (Aug. 14)
They praise God for providing an apartment in the Springburn area through a local church. After several challenging weeks of searching and three weeks of generous hospitality from their friends David and Jenny, they have finally been able to unpack their suitcases and begin putting down roots in the city.
Please especifically pray for:
• David’s recovery: David, who graciously welcomed the Chongo family into his home with Jenny, suffered a heart attack this week. We thank God that he received medical attention in time and has now returned home. Please pray for the complete restoration of his health, for strength throughout the weeks of recovery ahead, and for Jenny as she cares for him.
• Olivia and Sadoccito’s schooling: Their school application has been submitted, but the local council’s placement process may take some time. Please pray that they will soon receive a provisional placement and that spaces will become available at the school the family has requested.
• Their new home: Thank God for the church that responded compassionately to their situation and provided an apartment. Pray that their new home will become a place of peace, rest, fellowship, and fruitful ministry.
• Sadoc’s ministry: Sadoc will formally join Harper’s pastoral team next week to begin his season of preparation and service. Pray for wisdom, strength, meaningful relationships, and God’s guidance as he begins this new responsibility.
• Vivi’s connections: Vivi has begun getting to know some of the women from the church. Pray that God will continue surrounding her with meaningful friendships, encouragement, and opportunities to serve.
Above all, please pray that the Chongo family will remain strengthened by God’s presence as they establish their lives in Glasgow and begin serving at Harper. They are deeply thankful for every prayer and for the loving support of their church family.
