Dear brothers and sisters of Union Church,
I would like to begin by praising our Lord for His faithfulness.
Yesterday we held an extraordinary congregational meeting to vote to extend a 3-year contract for pastor Mark Hunt to serve as our next senior pastor. The congregation voted unanimously through 72 affirmative ballots and it pleases me to officially announce that pastor Mark has accepted our invitation.
Pastor Mark, his wife Meghan, and their 3 children will finish up their ministry in La Paz, Bolivia through October. After that, they will go to the US for a few days to visit Mark's mother whose health is deteriorating. They are planning to begin their ministry with UCG around the third week of November. In the meantime, let's continue to pray for our church, the Hunts, and for Mark's mother's health.
In spite of the great news, yesterday was also bittersweet as it was Ralph and Helen's last Sunday with us. Please keep them in your prayers as well. We are grateful to the Lord because Ralph turned out to be exactly the pastor we needed. We didn't know it, but God did. The intentional interim consulting process he carried out leaves the church with documentation that provides a clear understanding of who we are as well as with a clear picture for Mark of what needs to be done to serve it's body best.
In the name of the Union Church, I thank Ralph and Helen for their service and wish them Godspeed and protection in their travels.
